How to Redeem a Movies Anywhere Code

Movies Anywhere is a free service run by the studios that links your movie accounts together. Redeem a code there once and the movie appears in Vudu (Fandango at Home), Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and Google Play at the same time. Setup takes about five minutes the first time; after that, redeeming is a ten-second job.

One-time setup

  1. Go to moviesanywhere.com and create a free account with a US address.
  2. Open Settings, then Manage Retailers, and connect the services you use: Fandango at Home (Vudu), Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play or YouTube. Connect all of them if you have accounts; it costs nothing and every movie syncs to each one.
  3. Movies Anywhere imports the eligible movies you already own on those services and shares them across all of them.

Redeem a code

  1. Sign in at moviesanywhere.com or in the app and choose Redeem from the menu.
  2. Enter the code from your email and confirm.
  3. The movie is added to your Movies Anywhere library and, within a few minutes, to every connected retailer.

Which studios participate

Disney (including Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm and 20th Century), Universal, Warner Bros and Sony Pictures. Paramount and Lionsgate do not, so their movies are sold as Vudu or iTunes codes and stay on the platform where they are redeemed. Television is not supported at all; TV season codes redeem on a single platform.

4K notes by studio

  • Universal, Warner Bros, Sony: a 4K code gives 4K on Vudu and Apple TV.
  • Disney: a 4K code redeemed at Movies Anywhere gives 4K on Vudu and HD on Apple TV. Apple frequently upgrades those titles to 4K in its own store.
  • 20th Century (Fox): some 4K codes must be redeemed in Apple first, then transfer to Vudu in 4K. Our listings say "through iTunes" when that applies.

Common problems

  • The movie is on Movies Anywhere but not on Vudu. Check that Vudu is connected under Manage Retailers, then allow a few minutes. Disconnecting and reconnecting the retailer forces a sync.
  • "Code already redeemed." Email support with your order number. Codes are verified before listing, and a failed one is replaced or refunded.
  • Outside the US. Movies Anywhere and its retailers require US accounts, so the codes cannot be redeemed abroad.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use Movies Anywhere, or can I redeem on Vudu directly?

Many codes also redeem directly on Vudu or Apple, but Movies Anywhere is the reliable route and the only way to get the movie on every service at once.

Is there a fee?

No. The service and the retailer accounts are free.

What was Disney Movies Anywhere or DMA?

Disney's earlier version of the service. It became Movies Anywhere in 2017, and older codes labelled DMA redeem the same way.
