Apple sells movies through the Apple TV app (formerly iTunes). A movie code is redeemed the same way as an Apple gift card and the movie is added to your purchases permanently. Here is where the redeem option lives on each device.
The TV apps cannot redeem codes. Redeem on a phone, computer or at apple.com/redeem with the same Apple ID, then the movie appears in the Library tab on every device.
Apple treats every movie as a single purchase and plays the best version your device supports. Buy an HD code for a title Apple offers in 4K, and it plays in 4K with Dolby Vision on a 4K Apple TV or compatible smart TV. That is why iTunes HD codes are such good value.
Codes labelled "via Movies Anywhere" can be redeemed on Apple or at moviesanywhere.com. Redeem at Movies Anywhere with Apple connected and the film appears on Apple TV plus Vudu, Amazon and Google Play. Disney titles redeemed through Movies Anywhere show as HD on Apple; Disney iTunes 4K codes, sold separately, redeem in Apple directly for 4K. Details are in the 4K vs HD guide.
