Creed 2: Sylvester Stallone Confirms Boxer Florian Munteanu To Play Ivan Drago's Son in Sequel
Rocky Balboa and Creed fans - it's time to get excited!
Sylvester Stallone, the longtime action star and creator of the Rocky franchise, just confirmed that Romanian boxer and fitness model Florian "Big Nasty" Munteanu will star as Ivan Drago's son in the highly-anticipated follow-up sequel to the 2015 film Creed.
Stallone confirmed the news Monday night via Instagram, referring to Florian as "6 feet four, 245 pounds of talent."
This is big news for any true Rocky fan. Why?
It is primarily because this battle will bring everything full circle for Adonis Creed (who will once again be played by rising Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan). Keep in mind that Ivan Drago (played by Dolph Lundgren) was the Russian boxer that literally beat Creed's father Apollo to death in the ring as the climactic highlight of Rocky IV. It was the fight that forced Rocky Balboa to avenge his former rival and fallen friend by jumping back into the training montages and taking Drago down himself in an epic battle that closed the film.
By fighting against Drago's son in Creed II, Adonis gets a chance to avenge his father's death by becoming the first Creed to defeat a Drago in the ring. Hopefully, this also means that Rocky Balboa has fully recovered from his cancer diagnosis that plagued his health (and concerned moviegoers) during the Ryan Coogler-film that helped to put the entire Rocky franchise back on the map for a brand new generation of fans.
